The highly-awaited second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel debuts on Prime Video soon, and audience theories has been intense.
Season 1 presents a large cast of personalities residing in Hell and Heaven, sets them at odds accompanied by musical numbers about their clashes, and builds heated competitions and angsty, affectionate connections that fuel audience devotion.
The community's expectations for season 2 vary widely, but certain threads recur frequently: Could a fan-favorite character escape his tormentor? Might we learn more about the binding agreement constraining Alastor the Radio Demon? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Naturally, I don't produce the show with fan service as the main goal," the creator commented earlier this year. "But I believe that me being a devotee of the series implies there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She says her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by Prime Video and A24, which finance the series.
That might mean fans have to be patient for some of the major resolutions — but they could be shocked at how quickly the new season progresses, and how much of what they're anticipating unfolds this season.
"I believe people are going to be highly satisfied," the creator notes. "There are several debut moments. I think we receive some incredible disclosures, some fascinating backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."
The creator is well-informed of the theories and desires about season 2 — particularly in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've seen a couple people create a bingo card about the new season," she mentions. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've already completed a few items, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 launches on the streaming service on October 29.
